Materials Buyer
– Required for our client to join their office based in Harrow. This is a great opportunity for an individual to join a leading construction company in the UK. The successful candidate will be joining a busy team with a really positive and enjoyable office really good working environment.
The role will be in a RC Frame / Civils contractor’s office dealing with incoming phone calls, Talking and negotiating with the supply chain. The Buyer will join at mid-level working underneath the Senior and Head buyer.
Materials Buyer Position Overview
Talking and negotiating with the supply chain
Dealing with supplier invoice queries
Assisting the estimating department when required in obtaining tender rates
Spend some time raising purchase orders for the team in Ireland
Using Coins software to manage material requisitions and cover the ground with the supply chain
Day-to-day operations of the Central Procurement department of goods and services
Manage budget on each project and manage invoices and record supplier performance between site supervisors and suppliers to ensure delivery of goods in a timely manner and within budget on each project
Manage orders
Materials Buyer Position Requirements
An understanding of the civils side of construction (Desirable not essential)
Knowledge of drainage, ducting and street works
Experience in a construction purchasing environment or a merchant background
Up-to-date knowledge of material and plant hire markets, products and suppliers
Computer skills and a good telephone manner
Experience using SAP
Commercial awareness and be organised by nature
Team player and reliable
Materials Buyer Position Remuneration
Salary: £32k - £45k
