The Role of Marketing Manager
The role of the Marketing Manager is to manage, plan and implement an appropriate marketing campaign to relevant audiences, achieving targets set for quality, quantity and revenue from visitors and exhibitors.
The Marketing Manager is required to gain an in-depth understanding of the market and to develop key unique propositions for the events. A crucial part of the role is to develop and implement a strategic marketing plan to include budgeting and to motivate and manage the Senior Marketing Executive, and to manage external resources (PR, design and print).
The Marketing Manager will use efficient database management, administration of visitor databases and visitor research to target appropriate and qualified audiences for our shows.
The Marketing Manager will ensure a consistent and high-level of visitor care from ticketing through to the show.
The Marketing Manager also manages all aspects of the team, including leading, recruiting, managing, coaching and motivating direct reports.
General Duties
To effectively manage the Marketing team
To network within the markets to gain contacts and industry knowledge as well as to understand how USE can maintain a competitive edge in attracting audiences across exhibitors, sponsors and visitors
To manage and oversee the completion of visitor surveys and Net Promoter Score data.
To use survey and NPS data as well as additional market and visitor insights to improve and enhance future show marketing campaigns
To analyse previous marketing campaigns and undertake research to understand the event and the audiences fully
To provide strategic insight into the development of the shows in both the short, medium and long term and produce the marketing budget with the Event Director
To plan and implement the visitor sales marketing campaign in liaison with the Central Marketing Team
To produce sponsorship support material for the Sales Team and provide creative input into potential sponsorship agreements
To plan and implement visitor marketing campaigns including print and online advertising, direct mail, sales promotion and partnerships, online, social media and PR campaigns
To develop and agree briefs for team and relevant agencies and suppliers including; creative, ticketing, print and media buying and PR.
To develop and maintain professional relationships with media partners, trade associations and other relevant professional organisations
To appoint and manage agencies and suppliers securing comparative, best-buy deals on an on-going basis
Requirements for this Marketing Manager position
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years experience in a marketing role
Demonstrable experience managing and motivating a team
Experience in event programming and content generation
Knowledge:
Demonstrable Market and Industry Knowledge
A strong grasp of digital marketing tools and techniques
Familiarity with digital marketing methods and requirements including website design and administration.
A good understanding of all marketing channels and including email marketing, direct marketing, the use of social media, visitor targeting and research
A good grasp of IT including Outlook and Microsoft Office
Skills:
Ambitious with a desire to develop the events
The ability to think creatively and analytically
Highly organized with excellent time management
Extremely good communication and interpersonal skills
Committed and determined
Able to pay close attention to detail
Willing to learn, adapt and grow within the role
