The Company:

Listgrove is proud to be retained to recruit an executive leadership role for a long-standing manufacturer of specialist engineered components for a range of industrial sectors.

Primary Role:

To be fully accountable for the profit and loss; driving change, manufacturing process development, performance improvement, creating commercial opportunities and building the framework for a successful business that will realise its growth objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

• Direct responsibility for the P&L; Budgeting, profitability planning, forecasting and reporting to an executive board.


• Create, implement and continuously evaluate the business strategy.


• Present the vision of the company to the management team; providing inspirational leadership and ensuring that there is ‘buy-in’, together with establishing the infrastructure (people and process) to achieve the strategy.


• Lead, develop and mentor the leadership team, ensuring strong site performance.  Understand gap analysis in the teams’ capabilities and implement training initiatives, plus identifying recruitment needs to overcome any limitations.


• Drive an evolutionary culture change programme to ensure there is a cohesive approach to business and one which harnesses the value of the company.


• Work closely with the commercial team on sector development and customer relationships, building initiatives at a senior level.


• Overseeing the development of Operational Excellence challenging the status quo striving for world class processes.


• To evaluate any Capex projects required and determine the best course of action based on pay-back.


• Target profitable growth in commercially viable industries and with customers.

Candidate Profile:

• An experienced MD with a broad background including commercial and operational skills, capable of developing and leading the business in line with market demands. 


• Proven financial, operational and commercially focused hands-on MD, with a background in developing and growing SMEs.  Professional experience working for a technical manufacturer.


• Good networker and able to seek out new market opportunities to drive growth.


• Strong understanding of operations and finance – managing P&L, developing strategies, challenging status quo and implementing culture change.


• Capable of working within a SME business as opposed to an environment that is too ‘corporate’.


• Strong strategic background and a leader who can shape the vision of an SME, in line with maximizing market opportunities.


• Excellent people manager and visionary who can build successful teams.


• Financial acumen is necessary to deliver against this type of role.
