Management Accountant

Accountant - Oldham

Park Cakes is a c£200 million business which supplies cake and desserts to service the own brands of major retailers, there are three sites based in the North West at Heywood, Oldham and Bolton.

Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts, we mostly supply Marks & Spencer's although we also supply other major retailers..

This role is a site accountant based at our main site in Oldham.

Example Accountabilities:

• Daily and weekly labour reporting for the factory


• Report and process development


• Weekly material variance analysis, historic analysis and trend monitoring


• Daily and weekly inventory reporting, excess stock management, build stock forecasts


• Completion and submission of alcohol duty returns


• Support monthly overhead reporting process, understand cost centres, spend areas, accruals and prepayments


• Capex - manage and monitor capital spending, improve existing reporting processes and reports to minimise booking errors and GRNI's


• Product costings - understand the factory and processes to be able to cost products accurately


• Factory reporting - work with the reporting team to identify issues and improvements in our shop floor data system


• Provide cover across the team and assist colleagues

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

• Qualified accountant, 3 years post qualified experience preferred


• Food manufacturing experience, ideally with exposure to labour reporting, product costings and material variances


• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, you will need to analyse large amounts of data to provide commentary and support management


• Strong excel skills required and SAP knowledge preferred. There will be extensive development of existing reports


• Capable of working independently and under pressure. The role outputs feed into the weekly and monthly P&L/reporting processes with tight deadlines


• Good communication skills and able to challenge and influence stakeholders

Package: Between £50k-£60k per annum plus benefits inc Contributory pension scheme, Retailer Discount Scheme
