Main Purpose of Role
Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is currently seeking Maintenance Technicians to join their team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful running of the shift by maintaining and repairing machinery. This is a permanent position within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Open communication with Shift and Section Leaders to meet shift requirements
  • Effectively communicate progress to Shift Supervisors and Team Leaders
  • Attend stand up meetings to report on progress and changes
  • Support other team members and promote teamwork
  • Assess machine condition and identify potential problems
  • Maintain good housekeeping and workshop standards
  • Stay updated with current regulations and adhere to safety procedures
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs
  • Maintain and repair lens coating and processing machinery
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks
  • Read and interpret circuit diagrams for electrical and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems


Skills and Experience
A qualified person will demonstrate:
Essential Skills

  • Time served Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • Good understanding of single and three-phase power supplies, machines, and systems
  • Knowledge of AC/DC drives and conveyor systems
  • Familiarity with PLC and control gear systems
  • Experience of maintaining equipment in a process manufacturing facility
  • Competence in reading circuit diagrams
  • Good working knowledge of pneumatic systems and basic hydraulics
  • Computer literate
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations relating to maintenance/engineering
  • Ability to work independently and report effectively
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Logical and systematic approach to prioritizing workload


Desirable Qualifications

  • IEE 18th Edition Regulations
  • City and Guilds Electrical Testing and Inspection
  • Level 3 BTEC Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering
  • City and Guilds Mechanical Engineering
  • City and Guilds Electrical Engineering
  • City and Guilds Electrical Installation
  • HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical engineering


Weekend Role Hours and Salary
Working hours consist of 12-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, supplemented by 2 x 8-hour shifts during weekdays. These hours are worked at any of the 3 Kidderminster sites. The salary for this position is �42,065 per annum, plus a shift allowance of �3,054, resulting in a total of �45,119 per annum. Please note that as a Maintenance Technician, you will be on a 38-hour contract despite working 40 hours.
