Maintenance Manager needed to join a successful manufacturing business with a solid reputation. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a period of change – you will be able to make this role you own, taking charge of the maintenance department.

You will have managerial responsibility for two senior maintenance engineers, overseeing all maintenance activities and ensuring the smooth running of the 50 man manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be a time served engineer with a mechanical bias and some electrical experience. You will be happy to be a hands on manager, still undertaking maintenance work yourself in addition to the team.

Day to Day Duties of the Maintenance Manager

* Day to day team management of the maintenance engineers

* Ensure that all PPM schedules and works orders are completed within the agreed timeframes.

* Ensure that all maintenance activities are reported and logged and that all consumables/spares are logged and re-ordered.

* Liaising with Manufacturing and Production to keep production downtime to a minimum.

* Delivering ongoing improvements to the site.

* Creation of SOPS, Risk Assessments and toolbox talks

* Management of and negotiation with sub-contractors.

* Carry out planned and re-active maintenance across a diverse range and age of process equipment.

* Adhere to appropriate risk assessment, LOTO procedure and/or permit procedure.

* Ensure the effective and safe operation of all machinery and report all failures to the Engineering Manager.

* Flexible approach to work patterns that may be adjusted in line with production and manufacturing requirements.

* Assist with site facilities management.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* Mechanical & electrical experience gained within a chemical, food, pharma or general FMCG facility

* Proven experience of managing a team of engineers - development and appraisal, training, capabilities

* Understanding of fully automated processing plant and equipment.

* Experience of introducing and onward management of continuous improvement practice.

* Commercially aware with a track record of delivering an effective engineering and maintenance function.

* Lead by example setting high standards with the ability to respond to short term problems but plan and execute a long-term strategy that resolves root cause issues.

* A thorough understanding of planned preventive maintenance and utilising a CMMS to effectively manage a diverse range of assets.

* Experience of working with a diverse range of equipment to include rotating equipment, process heaters, process cooling systems, chemical reactors, mixing vessels and high speed packaging lines.

* Good team player who will drive continuous improvement and work on own initiative.

Pay, Benefits and Working Hours

* £50,000 per annum

* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
