Our client is a leading food manufacturer, that values hard work, teamwork and developing people. They are part of a global group with multiple sites in the UK and are looking for an experienced mechanical biased maintenance fabricator, fitter & welder to join their day shift crew.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Working alongside the maintenance engineering team to respond to breakdowns on production & packaging machinery when needed
• Role will involve a lot of project work - spending time in the workshop making up pipework, guards, spot repairs and machining
• Welding - MiG, TiG, Stick, MMA, Gas - stainless steel, sheet metal, pipefitting, brazing
• Be able to support the more junior engineers with training on welding skills
• Dealing with pneumatics, motors, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, drives, hydraulics, compressors
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, manual machining - use of lathes, milling, turning, grinding

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Must be an experience mechanical fabricator / fitter
• Strong welder - MiG, TiG, Gas, MMA, Stick
• Worked with stainless steel & sheet metal
• Must be a pipefitting guru
• Role is going to suit an experienced mechanically biased engineer/fitter that wants to come off working shift work
• Need to be a flexible character, doing workshop tasks but then help the maintenance team with breakdowns when needed
• Excellent problem solving and fault diagnostics skills
• Worked in a high-speed production environment previously
• Need to be a confident person that can support the junior engineers with training
• Continuous improvement mentality
