Maintenance Engineer – Cheshire – Diagnostics
About the Company:
We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer with experience maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing automation equipment to work for an expanding healthcare company in the Northwest UK.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Total Maintenance schedule for all manufacturing equipment and facilities.
Promptly respond to equipment breakdowns, leading short-term corrective actions and implementing longer-term preventive measures as necessary.
Collaborate with operational staff and the Automation and Maintenance Engineer to identify opportunities for the introduction of new equipment and automated systems.
Support the development of business cases for the implementation of new equipment and automated systems, aimed at increasing the financial contribution of the operational unit through improved efficiency, utilization, and capacity.
Liaise with Facilities staff to ensure the support, maintenance, and implementation of infrastructure systems necessary for manufacturing operation.
Identify cost-effective methods and systems to implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all operational equipment, in alignment with equipment availability targets set by the Manufacturing Team Leader and Manufacturing Manager.
Ensure that contracts are established with relevant third-party providers for service and maintenance when necessary.
Determine the documentation requirements for preventative maintenance schedules, including recording service and maintenance histories and relevant performance specifications.
Maintain accurate records and documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS).
Respond promptly to requests from the Manufacturing team to assess and address equipment breakdowns or malfunctions, taking appropriate remedial action to minimize loss of output.
Collaborate with operational staff to identify potential automation opportunities, prioritize them based on business needs, and propose them to the Manufacturing Team Leader and Automation and Maintenance Engineer for consideration in business case preparation.
Support the Manufacturing Team Leader and Automation and Maintenance Engineer in the timely and budget-conscious introduction of automated systems and equipment to ensure that identified business cases are fully realized upon implementation completion.
Assist the Facilities Team in caring for and maintaining infrastructure systems on-site, such as HVAC, compressors, and electrical supplies.
Support the Facilities Team in specifying and installing new infrastructure requirements as needed.
Provide training, education, and support to shop floor staff in the use, care, and operational maintenance of automation and other shop floor equipment.
Actively participate in Problem Product investigations and attend all relevant departmental meetings to contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Maintain the Approved Environmental Policy Statement among all staff members, ensuring awareness and adherence to environmental regulations and practices.
Safely decontaminate and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with established protocols and regulations.
Properly maintain and utilize equipment, following guidelines and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.
Perform physical work duties as required for the role.
Adhere to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where appropriate and follow established protocols.
Prepare project documentation in accordance with relevant standards and company requirements.
Accurately document all relevant records and securely retain them in a filing system for easy retrieval as needed.
Requirements:
Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.
Experience working in an automated manufacturing environment.
Experience maintaining equipment in a highly regulated manufacturing department.
Experience repairing manufacturing automation equipment.
