Job Title: Maintenance Electrician

Reports to (position): Maintenance Manager/TL

Purpose of Position

The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for the safe electrical maintenance; repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems to also ensure so far is as reasonably practicable that plant & equipment remains operational. To ensure that all plant & equipment is serviced in accordance with the sites planned preventative maintenance schedules.

As part of a small maintenance team, working on a three-tier rotating 8 hour shift pattern including night shift working. Mid-week and Weekend overtime expected. You will be required to undertake all aspects of electrical repairs.

Rotating Days - 6-2pm Afters 2-10pm Nights 10-6pm

Shift bonus 8.25% 06:00-14:00 + 14:00-22:00 20% 22:00-06:00

OT1: x1.5 basic (Mid week over 8 hours and Saturday)

OT2: x2 basic (Sunday)

25 days holiday plus BH

Pension Plan 3-5% employee, 3-10% employer

Key accountabilities

• As part of a small team you will need to work on your own initiative taking decisions as the need arises this will include electrical repairs and some basic mechanical operator roles (provided competent and authorised)
• To assist in working weekends on a rotation basis particularly during busy periods resulting in weekend manufacturing.
• It will be part of your function to understand the systems operation, its components and be able to diagnose faults and repair them
• To achieve this, you may be required to attend training in some specialist areas.
• Ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed to high standard to protect the company assets.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules and ensure where possible that the manufactures guidance maintenance procedures are followed.
• Ensuring that a safe standard of housekeeping is always maintained (adopting a clean as you go policy)
• Carry out periodic plant & equipment inspections according to current legislation
• Compliance with all Health Safety and Environmental Regulations
• To advise the appropriate manager immediately of any mechanical defects discovered.
• Ensure that PPE issued, is kept and maintained in good condition
• Other duties as delegated by management.

Skills required

Time served qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline e.g. apprenticeship:

Electrical

• City and Guilds Level 3 / BTEC or equivalent
• BS7671 - 17th Edition or later

Experience:

• Previous experience of working as part of a team
• Experience of working in a heavy industry factory environment would be advantageous
• The successful candidate will be flexible in their approach and be able to work on their own initiative when called upon
• Ideally Trained to IOSH Managing Safely standards
• Preferred working at height experience
• IPAF advantageous (3A/3B)
• FLT up to 5T counter-balance advantageous
