Mainframe Operations Analyst - Secondment/Fixed Term

As a Barclays Mainframe Operations Analyst, you’ll be in a 6 month fixed term contract, working as a Shift Lead within Mainframe Service Operations, being part of a 24 X 7 team to provide assistance for the Banks Mainframe Infrastructure and the applications that run on it. This is an exciting opportunity for you to lead as the first line of support for all incidents on the mainframe for both application and infrastructure, and to be in a Global team accountable for delivering and assisting with resilient, secure technology and services.

What will you be doing?
Liaising with support areas and clients to aid with the investigation and resolution of live incidents and problems on a 24x7 basis, escalating where required
Communicating effectively with the Service Control Mangers and the Command Centre team
Being accountable for problem solving using your excellent analytical skills
Working with support teams to ensure successful and timely implementation
Driving the team development in both technical and non-technical areas
Improving team understanding of the application environments running on the Mainframe
Organising and managing the tasks across the shifts, ensuring correct level of cover
What we’re looking for:
Experience of working on IBM Mainframes and proficient in TWS, JCL, CICS, IMS, MQ, DB2
Experience of working with Mainframe batch and online applications, infrastructure
Ability to investigate or discover potential improvements, new products/features/ resolve issues
Good grasp of Netview (Automation)
Skills that will help you in the role:
Practical experience working on Mainframe Infrastructure in an Operational environment
Good Knowledge of ServiceFirst
Solid grasp of Incident and Change management process
Great comprehension of REXX and other IBM Utilities
Where will you be working?You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
