Job Summary TheLuxury Facilities Manageris a dynamic, hands-on facilities manager within the Marine Operations Team with a focus on luxury. Their goal is to maintain a built environment that exudes luxury and attention to detail for the enjoyment and comfort of the yacht’s guests and
employees.
The Luxury Facilities Manager shall ensure proper management of the interior and exterior guest spaces for the company’s yachts, including the short and long-term planning for facilities asset management, with the primary importance being on guest experience and guest impression of the vessels' hard and soft furnishings. The Luxury Facilities Manager is responsible for budget forecasting and creation as well as active budget and contract
management.
Also responsible for planning and monitoring hotel refits during dry/wet dockings and for ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget, and to Company standards as it relates to their ownership area. During dockings, they will represent the Company and be accountable for all work performed under their direct ownership. Essential Functions Drives the importance of all Ritz-Carlton Gold Standards throughout every guest and employee interaction.
Supports the Sr. Manager Technical Operations to prepare short and long-term asset management plans, including future regulatory impact assessments.
Yacht Maintenance and Upkeep
Planning, monitoring, and arranging port services from external parties relating to facilities maintenance in conjunction with the vessel.
Utilizing or building systems to monitor KPIs around the performance of identifying and addressing issues onboard.
Manages the Hotel defects and monitors trends, with the clear goal of continuous improvement in all guest-affecting defects within the facilities department ashore and onboard.
Attend the yacht(s) regularly, at least one visit per quarter, to meet the team, review completed projects, and plan future works.
Guest satisfaction
Stays close to the guest voice in all aspects of maintenance and cleanliness feedback and reacts accordingly to emerging trends and opportunities.
Staff Management and Training
Builds a culture within the onboard teams of proactive planning and management of all Preventative Maintenance procedures and systems to ensure seamless integration with hotel operations and an uninterrupted guest experience.
Champions a just culture, open reporting, and continuous professional development across the technical team.
Works closely with the procurement team, supporting the technical procurement process.
Works closely with the yacht teams to ensure they receive the proper training and tools and that they develop Facilities SOPs, promoting the sharing and retention of knowledge and best practices.
Budget and Financial
Responsible for yacht expenditure against assigned budgets, preparing OPEX budgets and CAPEX business cases, tracking variances with actual costs, and taking steps to control those variances.
Evaluation of suppliers, products, and proposals, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing and logistics.
Maintains control of facilities expenditure, prepares vessel budgets, and reviews and approves vessel requisitions.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Ensures that, wherever possible, company yachts(s) operate beyond compliance with SOLAS, ISM, ISPS, MLC, United States Port Health, United States Coast Guard, and other relevant codes, and always in strict compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
Has a complete understanding of the Company VMS and supports shore-based and yacht senior teams to implement the Safety Management System and establish a robust safety culture.
Supports RCYC in driving and monitoring our sustainability goals and striving for continuous improvement.
Ensure timely and accurate gathering of evidence in the event of a potential insurance claim to support the insurance and claims management teams.
Newbuilding
Partners with the RCYC Newbuild Project Manager and shipyard teams to ensure that the Technical Operations team is represented at all phases of the newbuild process.
Supports the Manager Technical Operations with the safe handover, delivery, and launch of all new vessel hardware from the shipyard and ensures the smooth shakedown and integration into operation.
Develops, reviews, and approves SOPs and operational manuals for new vessels, reviews and approves new-build drawings and plans relating to hotel and facilities areas of the vessel. Competency Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the maritime sector, or equivalent
Experience
Shore-based experience as a Facilities Manager or similar in a marine interior outfitting company
Minimum 3 years experience serving either onboard passenger vessels or in a luxury hotel environment, in a guest-facing position
Experience managing a third-party outsourced operations relationship is preferred
Project management experience
Skills
Proven record as a successful manager with a high degree of knowledge in all aspects of facilities maintenance, including safety/risk management, compliance, asset management, and fiscal responsibility
Ability to understand and assess the impact of standards and defects on the guest experience
Ability to integrate and communicate with multiple departments and stakeholders across the business
Superior analytical problem-solving; able to solve urgent, intricate, and mission-critical challenges
Deep knowledge of industry safety and operational best practices; can create SOPs from scratch
Excellent ability in building and maintaining vessel operational budgets
Team-building skills with well-developed English language communication and presentation skills
Competency in Microsoft Office and planned maintenance software
Trustworthy, high ethical standards, ability to work autonomously, maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Ability to inspire your colleagues and walk the extra mile to make things happen
Ability to manage change effectively and implement new concepts
Flexible, adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment Work Environment Works in a combination of office, shipboard, and shipyard environments. The latter two may involve loud industrial noise, climbing ladders, and entry into tanks. International travel is required.
