The post is for a part-time consultant to cover maternity leave, working 6 PAs in Haringey Older Adults CMHT. The postholder will share responsibility for medical input into the CMHT with Dr. Rosemary Humphreys (Job share, 6PAs) and Dr Uttara Mandal (6PAs), who is also lead clinician for Haringey Memory Service (4PAs). The postholder will cover the postcodes covering N8, N11 and N22. Dr. Humphreys covers East Haringey, and Dr Mandal covers the catchment area of West HaringeyMain duties of the jobThe post-holder will be responsible for patients resident in North and Central Haringey. The current Consultant Psychiatrist caseload for this area is approximately 160 patients. New CMHT referral assessments are distributed amongst the team doctors according to complexity. The referral rate is up to 40 per month. The post-holder will be expected to undertake new assessments, manage and follow-up patients in the out-patient clinic and in the community. The post-holder currently holds a weekly out-patient clinic for 5 to 6 follow-up patients.The Consultant will be responsible for the patients in their catchment area being care co-ordinated by members of the CMHT and will be expected to be involved in CPA meetingsAbout usBarnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust is a multiple award-winning, combined mental health and community Trust providing local, regional and national healthcare services. The role includes all work related to a Responsible Clinician.Patient reviews, multi-disciplinary meetings, training, and the completion of relevant documentationA willingness to be flexible in altering the timetable according to service developments.Communication with all Haringey community teams and Haringey Adult Social Care DepartmentsInvolvement in providing leadership and management to the service.Liaison with Trust services and relevant non-statutory organisationsRegular liaison with the relevant in-patient Mental Health Services for older people and Care Co-ordinators.Covering for consultant leave in the older adults CMHT and Haringey memory service.Liaison with Trust services and relevant non-statutory organisationsMaintaining good relations with general practitioners and other stakeholders, e.g. Social Services Departments and Clinical Commissioning Groups.Education and TrainingThe post-holder will provide day-to-day supervision to the junior doctors in the team.A full role in the wider academic activities of the Trust for example, attendance and participation in academic meetings, journal clubs, etc.The consultant will provide training to the clinical teams where appropriate and within their area of expertise.Opportunities exist to deliver training to undergraduate students, core trainees and higher trainees in the Trust.Quality Improvement, Clinical Governance, ResearchA lead role for the service in quality improvement procedures to ensure good clinical governance. Research is actively encouraged and is generally well-supported within the Trust.The Trust Clinical Governance Department supports all services to undertake audit and other QIPP activities and welcomes participation in quality assurance projects.Dr. Ilyas Mirza is Director of Research & Development for the Trust. The Trust is a member of the UCL Partners Academic Health Sciences consortium.Service DevelopmentA lead role in the assessment and development of services in partnership with other stakeholders.Person SpecificationQualifications and EligibilityEssentialOn the GMC Specialist Register for old age psychiatry or within six months of obtaining a CCTTraining and clinical expertise in assessment, diagnosis and management of older adults with cognitive impairment and mental illness.
