Locum consultant in Respiratory Medicine with special InterestRespiratory Medicine at Newham University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust are looking for 1 fixed term Consultant Physicians in Respiratory Medicine.For this post there is a General Medical on call commitment in the form of an integrated on-call rota (currently 1:18 but with a plan to change to 1:12 as recruitment progresses - there will be an uplift in PA allocation that is to be confirmed following a pilot of a new weekend working rota model).The successful candidates will be employed on a fixed term basis. If working 10PAs the split of duties would be 7.5DCC/2.5SPA fixed term post for 6 months.You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Register for Respiratory and General Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.The candidates will be supported by the Clinical Leads and there is the opportunity for mentorship to help you transition into your new roleMain duties of the jobThe successful applicant will join our dynamic respiratory department as as a substantive Consultant with a special interest in General Respiratory Medicine and Integrated care. The post includes 10 PA of activity. This is a Royal College of Physicians approved post.This exciting and innovative post has been developed as there is increased recognition for Specialist Respiratory Support within our community services, to work collaboratively with the Trust, department and community partners to lead, develop and support patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases.The successful applicant will work closely with our multidisciplinary community respiratory team. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.Job descriptionJob responsibilitieshe secondary care component of the job plan will consist of comprehensive, consultant-led respiratory care for inpatients at Newham Hospital, support for respiratory registrar referrals and assessments, vetting of advice and referrals service and contributing to a regular bronchoscopy/pleural list.Spring 2024 will see the opening of a new Respiratory ward which will be co-located with the intensive care department in a newly built, state of the art complex. This new wing will provide generous office space for Consultants and juniors, large MDT meeting rooms, private family rooms for sensitive conversations and break out space for one to one discussions.
