Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology with General (Internal) Medicine

Posted a month ago

As University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) has recently expanded the Gastroenterology service based at Weston General Hospital, we are pleased to advertise the exciting opportunity for two Consultants in Gastroenterology with General (Internal) Medicine at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW). The main site for these posts will be Weston General Hospital but as we move to full clinical service integration across UHBW, it is anticipated that there will be some element of cross-site working with Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI), to be determined through the job planning process.
The post is advertised as a 10 PA post, but candidates wishing to be considered for a position with additional or fewer sessions are welcome to apply. The appointment of this position will be part of the 1:11 current consultant on call rota.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their CCT and ideally have NHS experience. However non-UK applicants wishing to apply for specialist registration could be considered on a fixed term basis.
We are offering a generous relocation package of up to £#####, with an additional recruitment premium for consultants of £15000, to be paid over a three-year period (pro-rata for fixed term posts) for successful candidates.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will develop special interests to extend the spectrum of the gastroenterology services offered at Weston, and support services currently being developed in the department. The post holder will undertake a total of two general gastroenterology clinics per week and support the endoscopy service with both upper and lower endoscopy procedures. Weston General Hospital is JAG accredited and is proud to have retained this for over 10 years. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional service. There will be inpatient responsibility for the gastroenterology ward on a 1:3 rotational basis. The post includes a commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota (1:6) plus the G(I)M on-call rota out of hours (1:11).
