Locally Employed Doctor - Rehabilitation - Copeland and Pendlebury

This is a full-time junior doctor role working in a 15 bedded HDU rehabilitation unit and a 10 bedded community step-down hospital.
You will work with a Consultant Psychiatrist and a higher trainee covering these two units.
Copeland ward is a high dependency rehabilitation unit where patients with complex psychosis and challenging behaviours are supported. The treatment pathway is between 12-18 months.
Pendlebury House forms part of our step-down community rehabilitation offer across the Trust. This unit supports patients with complex psychosis to continue their recovery in a less restrictive environment with a treatment pathway of around 24 months.
Main duties of the job
Clinical:
Clerking new patients
Assessing and managing physical health conditions of the patients on the ward
Completing regular mental state examinations and risk assessments for admitted patients
Liaison with external agencies such as GPs and acute medical staff
Attending ward rounds and documentation of ward rounds
Completing discharge summaries and discharge prescriptions
Leadership:
Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
Educational:
Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the Trust
Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
Record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively in a timely manner to our electronic patient notes.
Participate in annual appraisal.
Attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
Participate annually in a job plan review with the Consultant.
Take a proactive role in identifying risk and acting on the results to resolve problems at source wherever possible bearing in mind resources and priorities and liaising with line management.
Take part in risk management practices both clinical and non-clinical in line with the Trust's Risk Management Strategy.
