Job DescriptionAVP Legal Counsel - Structured FinanceRole: Permanent/ Full-timeTeam: Structured Finance Legal TeamLevel: 0-4 Years PQE as a rough guideLocation: LondonSalary: Competitive + Bonus + BenefitsReporting to: Senior Legal CounselWFH: Hybrid model, 3 days per week office-basedAbout the Role:The Assistant Legal Counsel will be part of the Structured Finance legal team and will support the business strategy in the EMEA region with the provision of advice on a broad range of financial services regulatory and legal matters.The Assistant Legal Counsel will report to the Senior Legal Counsel and provide advice on a broad range of finance, contract and data protection documentation from a regulatory financial services perspective, as well as assisting with relevant projects and legal policies & and procedures.Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Advice on a broad range of regulatory matters including MIFID/EMIR, GDPR, cross-border licensing, competition, investigations and litigation.Support the Bank in EMEA on projects which have regulatory issues.Assisting with investigating any identified potential or actual breach of relevant rules and regulations and advice on the legal implications.Review and draft documentation for overseas offices which relate to regulatory issues.Assisting in delivering training, know-how and guidance notes relating to a broad range of financial services regulatory issues.Reviewing and where required supporting to draft bank-wide standard documentation and other miscellaneous documents with respect to relevant regulatory issues.Be proactive in raising and escalating important legal issues and risks with more senior members of the legal team.Proactively contribute to the development of the Bank and actively work to eliminate legal risk.Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge:Qualified lawyer or similar qualificationApproximately two years post-qualification experience as a rough guide.Experience in regulatory matters that impact financial services, including cross-border marketing, FSMA, MiFID, EMIR, BRRD, data protection, benchmarks regulation and competition law.Some experience in litigations and investigations is desirable but not essential.An understanding of the Bank’s policies, procedures and products will be required.Willingness to learn about legal issues and how to manage legal risks for the Bank is very important.To build good interpersonal relationships with stakeholders to be a team player and work with all staff in a respectful and inclusive manner.Experience in drafting documentation.Participate in specific industry bodies and professional associations where appropriate.Robust and confident to appropriately challenge/advocate changeOur ambition is simple – to do our best for our people, clients and communities.We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond - this starts with hiring the best talent without consideration of race, religion, colour, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status or disability.
