Lecturer (Sports Business Management)
With an international reputation for the practical application of management education, we place real value in commercial collaboration, teaching innovation and nurturing entrepreneurship among our students. We have experts in a wide range of disciplines and embrace our vision of developing our students into highly employable, socially and environmentally responsible individuals. As one of our team, you’ll have unique opportunities to work with our extensive network of global education and exchange institutions, research collaborations and alumni communities.
Manchester Metropolitan University has made a strategic investment in sports research and education, including the creation of the Sport Policy Unit in the Faculty of Business and Law, and a new Institute of Sport, which opened in September 2022. The Sport Policy Unit (SPU) currently consists of 15 full-time staff, one of the largest concentrations of teaching and research expertise in the social science study of sport in the UK. The SPU made a significant contribution to the success in the recent UK Research Excellence Framework (REF), where ‘sport’ at MMU was ranked 6th on Research Power.
To complement our existing strengths in Sports Business Management, we are seeking to appoint a fixed-term lecturer for 12 months who can contribute to the Department’s teaching of, and research on, one or more of the following:
Economic, sociocultural, environmental, and health impact of sport
Sport, human rights, and wellbeing
National and international sport governance, policy, and politics
If you would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you.
In recognition of staff contributions to the University’s achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff. This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring and particularly encourage applications from groups which are underrepresented in the University workforce.
Hybrid working is offered for this role. The nature of the role requires presence on campus at certain times of year, but at other times you will be able to complete some work remotely. We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations throughout the application process.
