About the roleWe are seeking a lecturer or associate professor to join Energy and Climate Change within the Department of Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering, to deliver on coastal engineering research and teaching and linking with ongoing University-wide activities such as the University’s Sustainability and Resilience Institute.We are looking for individuals who will enhance our research, teaching and enterprise capabilities in:Understanding long-term coastal engineering and management strategies, coastal processes, adaptation to climate change, with an emphasis on mitigating sea-level rise impacts.Applying quantitative methods to understand coastal zones including engineered defence performance and sea level rise adaptation/resilience.Developing techniques and using facilities to model and measure coastal zone processes.Applying sociotechnical methods and approaches to understand current and future system interaction across all scales.About youYou will be someone who wants to work in a collaborative team environment, makes use of our world-leading facilities and have a passion for mentoring more junior staff and PhD researchers. You will have a higher degree in Coastal Engineering or related discipline with the capability to teach students through lectures, small group and lab classes. If required, training towards a teaching qualification will be provided as part of the role. It is desirable that you have Chartered status as an engineer.You should have a proven ability or potential to generate high quality publications and attract research or enterprise funding.
