Full-Time Learning Support Assistant - Special Educational Needs

Reeson Education is excited to announce an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a mainstream primary school in Wandsworth. This full-time role, starting in September, focuses on providing support to children with special educational needs (SEN).

Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Support: Provide tailored 1:1 support to students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in managing classroom activities, preparing resources, and supporting the educational and social development of all students.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and record the progress of students with SEN, adapting support strategies as necessary to meet their evolving needs.
  • Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support the emotional and behavioural needs of students with SEN, promoting a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure cohesive support for students.

Learning Support Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience with SEN: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs in a school setting.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: A patient and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children with SEN.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to provide the best support for students.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Holding a relevant qualification in special needs education or childcare is desirable but not essential.
