Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are partnered with a world class leader in the international market for the design, manufacture, maintenance and supply of equipment and components for railway systems, on their search for a Learning and Development Partner.

Opportunity

Requirement for a capable training professional, to be the first point of contact for all upskilling/training requirements for support functions within a leading Rail manufacturer. You will map out a plan to ensure employees have the best development opportunities available, and bring your expertise in apprenticeship/ funding opportunities to benefit the business.

Supporting the long-term succession planning, the incumbent will be integral in ensuring future planning for the business. They will be identifying training requirements within the workforce support functions, which will allow them to upskill current members of staff, benefiting succession planning, with a stronger focus on promoting internally in the longer term.

Location: Manchester/Stockport sites. 

Role and Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement effective learning and development strategies to meet the requirements of the business, in conjunction with the deployment of strategic initiatives and objectives from group HQ. These include but are not limited to;


  • Professional Sponsorship Policy
  • Talent Hub initiatives
  • SAP Success Factor Talent modules
  • Apprenticeship Management
  • Rail Services Academy


  • Collaborate with various departments to identify training needs and gaps in performance and partner with relevant department managers to facilitate training as required.
  • Organise and oversee professional development programs across all levels of the business ensuring they support talent and succession planning activities.
  • Build relationships with a variety of stakeholders and subject matter experts to look for opportunities to implement digital or face to face learning solutions that benefit the business.
  • Developing and sustaining relationships with third-party provider partners, building strong relationships enable working collaboratively.
  • Participate in budget development and cost tracking for learning and development initiatives including administration of the Company’s Apprenticeship Levy Account.
  • Maintaining appropriate records to facilitate the production of insightful management information to guide and inform L&D strategies.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of the new LMS to be the focal point and portal for all L&D activity that is available across the business. Continuously reviewing the look and feel of the LMS and the learner journey, to make access to learning as simple as possible.
  • Liaise with colleagues from group HQ regarding the L&D resources available and the technology strategy which underpins approach.
  • Drive the completion of all “essential” digital learning to meet company / legislative requirements.

Essentials


  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Apprenticeship Levy knowledge of different areas and how to access funding/apprenticeship pots (knowledge of such legislation and similar across England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland)
  • Able to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Background supporting the supporting functions of a business e.g HR/stores/logistics.
  • Spanish speaker would be desirable.
