You will act as the leading engineer covering mechanical and environmental testing within Fortescue WAE’s internal test facilities. These include the areas of vibration, impact drop, IP testing, salt spray, dust ingress, climatic and thermal shock. This will require you to both manage and lead the site areas and team, to deliver testing needs of the business, whilst driving continuous development of facilities to enable engineering development beyond industry standard testing.Job role:Line management of a team of Battery Test engineers and technicians.Scheduling of test facilities within your remit in line with business priorities.Reviewing test request information to produce suitable test procedures for mechanical and environmental testing.To act as one of the technical leads for mechanical and environmental testing within Fortescue WAE’s battery development testing facilities.Design and approval of test rigs, jigs, and fixtures for R&D test purposes.Leading the design and build of bespoke test facilities, whilst driving best practices in maintaining test rig hardware and software.Future planning and delivery of facilities upgrades.Using your knowledge of mechanical and environmental test equipment, you will lead and train engineers and technicians in resolving test issues during day-to-day activities.Act as the lead for maintaining calibration of all test equipment within your domain.Definition of standardised testing processes to enable efficient operation of facilities. Leading all necessary H&S activities within areas of your domain.Training of new employees for areas of: H&S safe working practices, use of test facilities, methods of testing for areas of battery cell development testing, best practices for data analysis and reporting.Ability to work independently in planning daily activities to deliver testing programmes to strict deadlines and milestones.You’ll have:ESSENTIAL:Demonstratable knowledge of operating and maintaining key mechanical and environmental test equipment.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain a team-oriented environment.Highly disciplined, analytical, and organised.Experienced in industry standard battery test methods and data analysis to develop new methods of battery testing.ADVANTAGEOUSExperienced in management and leadership of engineers and technicians within an advanced technology company.Demonstratable knowledge of battery technology and principlesExperience in defining and conducting mechanical and environmental testing for automotive battery DVP.Experience of Vector tools hardware and softwareWorking experience of HaV (up to 1 kV) battery systemsExperience & Qualifications:Experience in leading a team of engineers and technicians in daily activities.Training and experience in working with hazardous voltages.We’ll provide:Training to add to your existing skills and accelerate your careerA supportive and empowering work environmentThe closing date for applications is 17 th
