We are currently working on an exciting new vacancy for a client who is seeking a dedicated and motivated Lead Systems Safety Engineer with experience in the safety and risk aspects of the Rail industry. Successful candidates will be joining the Systems, Safety and Health Team and will be providing technical expertise to the industry on safety and risk management issues, and supporting their safety assurance activities.
Key Accountabilities
Setting safety strategy, systems modelling, requirements management & development of industry standards.
Supporting industry safety assurance activities, including identifying hazards, assessing safety risk, and running workshops on all of the above.
Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of risk assessment and risk management issues, within and outside the rail industry, through continuing professional learning and development.
Communicating and coordinating relevant information on risk related issues to key stakeholders including; e.g. managers, project leaders, health, safety and environment engineers and colleagues
Providing analysis of railway systems safety risk and assist in communicating and promoting the understanding of the risk profile and the major risk contributors to the industry.
Review and advise on the risk assessments and risk assessment methodologies developed by the industry.
Promoting good risk management practice both within the business and across the wider industry.
Writing high quality reports, guidance and tools to inform internal and external stakeholder activity.
Requirements
Essential
Degree in either mathematics, science, engineering or a related discipline or relevant amount of equivalent experience in one of the fields.
Working knowledge of risk assessment and risk management practices and techniques
Awareness of safety assessment techniques e.g. HAZOP, FMECA, FTA
Effective communication skills with in conveying complex issues to non-technical users at all levels
Ability to work collaboratively, and influence at all levels.
Experience of applying analytical thinking and problem-solving with an ability to quickly understand complex information
Interpersonal and team working skills
Desirable
Experience of working in the rail industry
Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards e.g. CSMs, EN 50126/8/9
This is a permanent opportunity with a Salary between £60/65k and will be based out of an office in Central London once able.
