Are you a Lead Software Engineer, who is looking for a new challenge working on exciting projects? Are you someone who will take pride in quality, values teamwork and collaboration? If you are, then this role could be for you. MASS, a defence technology company are currently looking for a self-motivated and proactive Software Engineer to join our team at Corsham.
How your experience will be utilised
This role involves analysing, designing, and modifying a complex existing software package to improve its quality, performance, and maintainability. Additionally, there will be a need to add new features and/or improve existing ones.
To lead a small team responsible for re-engineering an existing complex, technical software product. This involves:
Identifying the reasons for the re-engineering, defining the scope, and establishing the goals and objectives of the process (in discussions with the stakeholder community).
Planning and deliveringall elements of the re-engineering project to budget and agreed timescales.
Organizing and directing the re-engineering team
Reporting progress/costs to the Models team Leader & other interested parties.
Assisting with all tasks involved in the Software Re-engineer role, for example:
Analysisof the existing system
Designing the replacement software
Implementing new code and tests according to the new design
Overseeing deployment

We’re expecting that you’ve done a similar role before, so you’ll know how to do it whilst spinning multiple plates:
Experience of Enterprise Architect or similar tools.
Demonstrable experience and understanding of software design, and implementation in accordance with recognised best practice.
Working, technical knowledge of C++.Prior knowledge of Fortran is useful but not required.
A sound grasp of the key principles and techniques of physics and maths-based computer modelling.
