Reporting directly to the CTO, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving our technical vision forward. Having operated successfully for five years, the business is now ready for its next growth stage.Good Life Sorted is an online marketplace connecting older adults and their families with local, vetted Helpers who provide services such as shopping and errands, light cleaning, meal preparation, transport, companionship and more (no personal care). Our Helpers also support care home residents. As a marketplace, we recruit and vet the Helpers, match them with the right customers and provide our Helpers with the technology to manage their business.About the RoleGood Life Sorted is seeking a talented Lead Javascript Engineer (backend-focused) to join our dynamic team.This role requires an experienced professional with a deep understanding of backend development, particularly in Node.js, and a passion for leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing automation solutions, integrating third-party applications, and leveraging AI and ML models to solve complex business challenges.Responsibilities:Lead the backend development efforts of the Good Life Sorted platform, collaborating closely with the CTO and other team members to execute the product roadmap.Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable APIs using Node.js|MongoDB to support multiple React/React Native UI applications.Integrate with third-party applications such as HubSpot, Mailchimp, and Zapier to enhance platform functionality and user experience.Utilise AWS services to effectively deploy, monitor, and scale the platform infrastructure.Drive operational efficiency by designing and implementing automation solutions across various aspects of the platform.Leverage AI and ML models to analyse data, derive insights, and optimise platform performance.Mentor and coach junior development team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating them into the development process where applicable.Requirements:5+ years experience in software engineering, ideally covering a range of technologiesProven experience as a backend Javascript engineer with a strong command of Node.js and related frameworks.Solid understanding of AWS services and experience in deploying and managing cloud-based applications.Proficiency in designing and implementing automation solutions to drive operational efficiency.Experience integrating with third-party applications and RESTful APIs.Experience creating applications using a NoSQL data layer (Ideally MongoDB)Familiarity with AI and ML concepts, with the ability to apply them to solve business problems.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset towards addressing technical challenges.Experience in mentoring and coaching junior team members is a plus.We have a great work environment, a lovely London office, and hybrid working arrangements.
