Every HVDC solution is tailored and designed based on a project-by-project assessment of the customers' individual requirements, whether it's for connecting offshore wind generation, long distance power transmission, or energy trading between independent networks.Within this cross-centers and multicultural organisation, the Lead Engineer - Mechanical Engineer is responsible to design optimised HVDC substation layouts that integrate all the required equipment considering their installation, operation, and maintenance constraints.You can intervene either during Intent To Order (tender) and/or Order To Remittance stages (projects). You will report directly to your regional's Team Leader and functionally to the Plant engineering manager.Job DescriptionEssential responsibilitiesOn-time Engineering deliverables comply with safely regulations, and contractual requirementsTechnical lead for engineering of primary, secondary design of substations / HVDC stationsConvert project contractual documents into requirements and technical specificationsDefine and control planning for the project, ensuring on-time delivery of your deliverablesReview and validate engineering deliverables under your project / tender scopeLead and design optimized substation & buildings layouts integrating all the required equipment considering their installation, operation, and maintenance constraintsOrganize and perform projects design/gate reviews related to your functionConversant in managing the Interface with other disciplines/suppliers/cross-functionsCollaborates on project installation, commissioning, and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errorsSupports the Project Manager in overall project progress, project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actionsInteracts with customers, contractors, suppliers, attends project meetings and presents all technical aspects of project assignmentsProvide answers to client, partners & suppliers technical queries related to your functionLead the design engineers/designer for the assigned project(s)Lead and manage change control requests impacting function's deliverables and scheduleProvides feasible and cost-effective solution for tenderSupport continuous improvement within function/engineering disciplineQualifications and SkillsA bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related disciplineExcellent knowledge on High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE etc.) and related equipment and substation designExceptional Knowledge of primary/secondary design engineering of substations or power plants or HVDC converter stationsDemonstrated knowledge on contract and project management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), or Engineering equipment package (EEP) typeProficient with Autodesk CAD tools Revit, BIM360 etc.Good understanding of onshore civil engineering and offshore platform design and requirementsLeadership (management by influence), analytical mind, rigorous and commitment,Professional English spoken and writtenMobility required (on-site visits or client meetings 10% of the time)About GE Grid Solutions:At GE Grid Solutions we are electrifying the world with advanced grid technologies.
