Duties & Responsibilities:
Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Undertaking boring, drilling, and sampling using a cable percussive drilling machine.
- Conducting in situ testing and installation of instrumentation into cable percussive boreholes.
- Managing and supervising the safe operation of a ground investigation cable percussive drilling machine.
- Supervising and ensuring the safety of the Support Operative and any other work colleagues operating within the work area.
- Ensuring efficient work practices in accordance with British Standards and Industry Guidance to meet required production levels/output.
- Producing daily records and journals.
- Working in accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
- Reporting to the Site Project Manager on individual projects.
Education & Training:
- CSCS card.
- NVQ Level II – Land drilling – Cable Percussive.
- SSSTS desired.
- First aid trained desired.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience of drilling in various ground conditions including contaminated land, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and managing groundwater.
- Experience of drilling with various sizes of casing and tooling, 6” up to 12” diameter.
- Experience of UK ground investigation industry, aquifer protection techniques, in-situ testing and sampling, and instrumentation installation.
- Dedicated approach to health and safety and risk assessment.
- Maintenance and safety inspections of CP rigs/drilling machines and components.
Skills & Abilities:
- A full UK driving license with B+E (towing).
- Excellent communication skills with Client representatives and internal personnel.

Job Specifics:
- Shift Pattern: Weekdays day shifts with potential to work weekends and nights depending on project contract requirements.
- Hours: 50 hrs per week Monday to Friday.
Salary: £40 – 45k
Subsistence:
- £5 /day for working up to 7 hrs away from base.
- £10 / day for working up over 10hrs away from base.
- £25 /day for overnight stay.
