About The Role
Leicester City Football Club are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to lead the first team's data analysis activities. The successful candidate will provide insight and guidance through data to coaches, analysts, and other stakeholders, build statistical models using industry-standard football datasets, and drive the strategy for data-related activities involving the first team
Who We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a quantitative discipline, such as Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or another STEM-related subject. As a data scientist, they will be proficient in programming languages and libraries used for statistical computing and data science (Python preferred), have experience of designing and training statistical models, expertise of data visualisation for long- and short-term performance trends, experience of working with databases, and evidence of deriving and communicating actionable insights from football data through previous employment or as a hobby.
Desirable experience (but not essential) includes a Masters or PhD level of education in a quantitative discipline, a background of working and communicating in a sporting environment, expertise when working with cloud computing technologies, prior experience of managing a small team of data professionals, and the skill-set to take a leading role to drive the data strategy for an organisation.
