Reporting to the Director of Data Platforms the role will be an important member of the Data Platforms Team and will be leading a team of skilled Data Engineers. You will also be one of the main points of contact of the business stakeholders into the Data Platforms team.The PersonDemonstrable experience of at least 5 years running cloud-native data lakes in regulated industries. Whilst we use Microsoft Azure the role is agnostic about any actual cloud provider exposure as long as there is a clear track record of actual, hands-on experienceManaging team of 5 or more Data Engineers,across various seniority, and clear strategy for growing technical skills and business acumen of this teamYou have considered and adopted, as applicable, proven software engineering principles as the core building block of your platforms and teams and able to articulate these decisions to promote wider adoption For each stage of the data management process, such as integration, orchestration,serialisation, project configuration, observability, monitoring, cataloguing etc you are aware of best-in-class industry solutions and can make considered choices between them depending on your use case and able to communicate these decisions to wider audiencesYou have a detailed knowledge of the concepts and principles of data modelling (particularly star-schema) and can produce, maintain, and update relevant data models for specific business needs including bespoke serialization techniques (e.g. Parquet) and table formats (Delta etc)This is an incredibly exciting role that rarely becomes available.
