The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active clinical pharmacist – based at Tees Valley Hospital (based in Middlesbrough) - to lead and develop clinical pharmacy services at both Tees Valley and Cobalt (Newcastle) hospitals; supporting clinical staff in effective medicines optimisation in the pre-assessment, peri and post-operative settings. As Lead, you will work with the North East Cluster Lead Pharmacist and the Heads of Clinical Services for the two hospitals to support wider medicines governance across both sites as well as manage the established site based pharmacy technician and assistant in medicine procurement.
The post is 30 hours per week, and whilst based at Tees Valley Hospital, flexibility is required to provide planned quality assurance visits to Cobalt hospital.
The post holder is managed by the Head of Clinical Services at Tees Valley Hospital, although working in collaboration with the wider North East pharmacy team is expected, as the post holder will be a member of (and supported by) the wider Ramsay Health Care UK pharmacy manager/lead community.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be patient focused. Applications are welcomed from hospital pharmacists, community pharmacists and primary care pharmacists. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacist to be eligible to apply for this post.
The successful candidate will be provided with an induction training programme organised by supported by the Corporate Pharmacy Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical screening and services to clinical departments
Procurement, audit, patient counselling and other associated pharmaceutical duties
Attendance at relevant clinical governance meetings
Providing advice to patients/carers and clinical staff on pharmaceutical products as required
Adhering to GPhC Standards of conduct, ethics and performance
Supporting clinical managers in providing effective training and competency review of registered staff
What you will bring:
Degree in Pharmacy
Must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
Demonstrated Customer Service skills
