Working collaboratively with the Lead Clinician and other members of the Endoscopy MDT, the post holder will take an active role in ensuring the service delivers the highest standards ofclinicalcare. This will include actively supporting the implementation of new nationally agreed directives, especially those related to cancer, and seeking routes to improve and develop the service for the futureAs a senior member of the Endoscopy Team, you will be responsible and accountable for leading and delivering the highest standard of individualized care to meet national and local targets and develop the service in line with JAG and BSG recommendations.You will be expected to highly demonstrate specialist and advancedclinicalknowledge, skills and decision making, working autonomously to manage whole episodes of patient care independent of medical supervision but as a key member of the Endoscopy Service multi-disciplinary team (MDT).The endoscopy unit is undergoing significant changes. You will be requested to demonstrate at interview the skill set needed to join us in delivering, developing and teaching expert care within this challenging and exciting specialty.Main duties of the jobWork independently and unsupervised as an expert Advanced Practitioner in performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, demonstrating advanced levels of clinical judgment, discretion and clinical decision making.To be a highly experienced specialist advanced practitioner, with expert knowledge and skills in the field of Endoscopy Services, undertaking holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care in accordance with the British Society of Gastroenterology and Joint Advisory Group standards.Lead endoscopy training, actively implementing and provide clinical teaching and education to other colleagues (medical/nursing) in order to enhance clinical practice and improve patient care.To lead initiatives to continuously improve quality and clinical care standardsTo support senior nurse leadership within the endoscopy unit.To develop and continuously focus on improving patient centred care and overall experience within the endoscopy care pathway. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAININGJAG accredited endoscopist in upper and lower GI (including colonoscopy)Knowledge of disease and care related to symptom management/treatments.Teaching certificate TTT/TCT/TGTAdvanced knowledge of GI tract anatomy and physiology.Master's degree or working towards a master’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience acquired over a significant periodPPE requirements:Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations remain the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course our patients from the viruses when working in our healthcare settings.
