Lead Artist - Hiring ASAP - REMOTE
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 18-month contract
Location: Remote Working
Rate: £250-£315 per day PAYE

Summary

  • The Lead Artist is a key collaborator of the Art Directors in defining and maintaining the game's visual style. They provide support across all art teams and make informed judgements on the aesthetic quality of the project. They are responsible for ensuring that the game's visuals are consistent and coherent with the original artistic vision. The Franchise Lead Artist will be professional, collaborative, and quality oriented. This role requires someone who is happy to design, as well as craft, is hands on with using the Unreal engine and great with people.

Responsibilities

  • Able to contribute to the development of Art style/Tone/Direction, to work closely with the Art Director, Art Leads to deliver inspiring artwork that pushes the ambition of the team.
  • Bring your creativity to help define and refine work both under art direction and in a creative exploration/development capacity.
  • Comfortable owning Art Direction for seasonal or one off in-game events. Helping to define new world locations, NPCs, and cosmetics across internal and external teams.
  • Provide feedback and guidance for the team's work during art reviews and other meetings as required.
  • Guide our co-dev art teams through the on boarding process and provide them with the necessary direction and information.
  • Ensure co-dev artwork is held to the same high standards as our own.

Key Skills

  • Creating supporting assets and pitch materials to guide and inspire the team.
  • Able to own/supervise assets from inception to shipped in game.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and effective communicator
  • Able to manage a large team of artists in a dynamically changing game production environment.
  • Experience with staffing, interviewing, and team building as well as managing external partnerships.
  • Takes initiative to solve problems with excellent follow-through.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and tact
  • A minimum of 4 years' art lead, art direction, or art management experience.
