The role of the Lead Access Team Co-ordinator is to provide specialist advice and support to all specialty management teams to ensure the delivery of elective access targets, including referral to treatment and cancer targets. Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to the RCHT Access Policy. Lead role in monitoring the referral to treatment pathway, including outpatients, diagnostics, and in-patients. To work with clinical, management and administrative teams to support service development and initiatives relating to patient access whilst delivering on national and local expectations. Lead on the development and delivery of training on all aspects of patient access. Day to day line management of Access Team. Unfortunately due to budgetary constraints we are unable to support visa sponsorship for this role.
The recruiting panel will therefore only be able to consider applications from candidates that already possess the right to work in the UK.Main duties of the jobAccess Team to act as the first point of contact relating to access management, referral to treatment and all wait time targets. Direct liaison with patients as part of the national and local waiting list initiatives. Liaison with patients with deteriorating or changes of condition, assessing whether a clinical review is required, and following up with the relevant trust specialty to ensure patient best interests are adhered to. In conjunction with the Access Co-Ordinator's work with specialty management teams to ensure patients waiting for appointments and/or treatment are managed in chronological order, within clinical priority and seen or treated within the maximum wait time in line with national guidelines and Trust policy. To track, monitor and record progress against identified measures, including demand, capacity, recovery, and activity plans, to enable reporting on a regular basis. To lead on the development and delivery of training to individuals and groups of staff to support new and existing processes which support the Access Policy. To lead on the Access Policy Audit programme to ensure compliance, providing feedback on waiting list management and recommendations for continued improvement. Access Team to act as the first point of contact for patients exercising their legal right to access services within maximum waiting times under the NHS Constitution guidelines. Direct liaison with patients as part of the national and local waiting list initiatives. Liaison with patients with deteriorating or changes of condition, assessing whether a clinical review is required, and following up with the relevant trust specialty to ensure patient best interests are adhered to. Lead the work on capacity and demand within the Access Team to ensure ongoing maintenance and use in planning operational delivery. To support the electronic patient record programme by contributing their knowledge of RTT and elective care pathways. Identify, recommend, and facilitate change to improve access by focusing on challenging areas within the patients pathway.To analyse, interpret and make recommendations on a range of factors relating to: Data quality Data completeness Capacity & demand To provide general administrative support including minute taking, arranging meetings, action plans and updating reports. To respect the confidentiality of all matters relating to their employment and other members of staff. MAXIMS internal referrals RTT data quality issues (Radar) Mutual aid monitoring Identifies and evaluates areas for potential service improvement and discusses with relevant personnel which may be from other areas of the Trust and impact on their working practice. Previous access team experience. Demonstrable experience in hospital administration. Wide experience of using all modules of the PAS. Experience of waiting list management and in-depth knowledge of local and national targets. In depth knowledge of Access policy and its application. Minimum of 5 GCSEs inc English and Mathematics Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively with staff of different disciplines and the general public. Demonstrates initiative and use of innovative and lateral thinking in problems solving. Good knowledge of IT systems used within the hospital. In depth knowledge of all PAS modules. Excel, Word, NHS Mail, Maxims, Winpath, Bluespier. Evidence of willingness to train and develop skills and knowledge. Self motivated. Ability to organise and manage own workload and meet deadlines. Able to remain calm under pressure. Ability to achieve whilst maintaining sensitivity towards others. Bright, friendly, and enthusiastic. Able to fit in with the existing members of the team. Adaptable, to move with changing agenda.
