We need an experienced Large Loss Claims Handler to join our Large Loss Claims team in either Salford Quays, Manchester or Haywards Heath, West Sussex.The successful applicant will report to our Head of Large Loss and pro-actively manage a caseload of new and existing catastrophic personal injury claims potentially exceeding £1 million+ and involving claims of the upmost severity. This will include spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and limb amputation. Your day to day duties will involve working closely with other departmental colleagues, external solicitors and stakeholders with an ultimate goal of settling significant complex and sensitive claims in a timely and professional manner.You will be joining a valuable and busy department in our business. You should be a team player, able to use your own initiative and plan your workload independently whilst collaborating widely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an outstanding service to the Insurer, Reinsurers and our Customers. working available to include 1 day a week in the office and 4 days from home depending on business requirements. This is a Monday to Friday role 9am to 5pm joining a valuable and busy team in our business.

Here’s a taste of the benefits you’ll enjoy …Competitive starting salary plus fantastic benefits (See further down the advert on our company benefits)Annual Discretionary company bonus schemePrivate Bupa Medical Insurance coverHybrid working available for a valuable work life balanceA professional, energetic and lively working environment where each day is differentJob responsibilities:Manage a range of catastrophic personal injury claims from the outset to a conclusionBeing fully conversant with the relevant sections of the Civil Procedure Rules, Personal Injury Pre action Protocol, Rehabilitation Code, the Road Traffic Act and the implications of being RTA/ART75 insurer to include litigationLiaise closely with the Head of Large Loss to ensure that the reserves fully reflect the anticipated level of damages and costs on each large loss claimBuild and maintain relationships with reinsurers, panel solicitors, and other stakeholders to each claimProcess payments on claims files in accordance with your authorities and to undertake payment authorisationsEnsuring that all your allocated claims files are reserved accurately and promptly and in accordance with our reserving philosophyMaintain your own diary within SLA and KPI’S and undertake regular file reviews to ensure effective and timely settlement of all claimsIdentify potential fraudulent claims and action as per company guidelinesHandling litigated cases in accordance with procedural requirementsTo provide a point of technical referral to junior employeesAssist the delivery of our claims business plan and income targetsDeputise workloads during team absence Constantly improve your understanding of technical issues in your specialist areaWork closely with other teams and departments to ensure consistency, best practice and complianceAny other reasonable duties as requiredExperience & knowledge:Extensive motor claims experience at a senior level within financial services / motor insuranceProven track record in handling large loss personal injury claims in excess of £500,000 including catastrophic reinsurance claims in excess of £1,000,000Excellent understanding of all aspects of motor claims, including personal injury, reinsurance and relevant legislationKnowledge of FCA requirements (including TCF) and the regulatory framework relating to claimsSolid working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules, Personal Injury Pre action Protocol, Rehabilitation Code, the Road Traffic Act and the implications of being RTA/ART75 insurer.Good commercial awareness and sound understanding of tactics surrounding the negotiation and litigation of claimsGood understanding of wider business objectives and operational requirementsSkills & Qualifications:Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenGood time management and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workProblem solving skills with the ability to adopt a logical approach to resolving problemsGood data and statistical analysis skillsNegotiation and influencing skillsWhat can we do for you?
