Role: Laboratory Technician (Materials Development)

Rate: �13 P/Hour

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Stevenage, SG1 2BP

We are looking for an organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and disciplined Laboratory Technician (Materials Development) to work with our dynamic Chemistry team with employees across the world. What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with Materials Scientists, Chemists, Engineers, and Biologists to support activities including materials analysis and membrane fabrication
  • Perform both routine and one-off laboratory testing such as Raman Spectroscopy, SEM, porometry, FT-IR, BET and dry weight
  • Perform a variety of technical support functions across the materials development lab, e. g. helping with polymer solution preparation, electrospinning and lamination
  • Take detailed lab notes, documenting and reporting test results
  • Supporting good housekeeping practices and adhering to Laboratory Health and Safety standards
  • Lab management support, including order, restock and maintain inventory of chemicals and consumables and arrange deliveries between sites
  • Document and arrange safe disposal of all laboratory waste
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver accurate lab results

Who You Are:

  • Either Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with minimum of 3 months laboratory experience, or Science A-levels (or equivalent) with minimum 2 years laboratory experience
  • Awareness of membrane fabrication techniques would be an advantage, but on-the-job training will be provided
  • Experience in one or more of the analytical methods listed above would also be an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Teamworking ability, attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, able to multi-task efficiently
