Laboratory Technician

Wells Cathedral School seeks a Laboratory Technician to provide support to the teaching of Science each Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during term time. The successful candidate will provide technical support for practical lessons, ensuring that resources and equipment are prepared and available. Committed to developing their personal skills, the successful Job title: Laboratory Technician (Any Science discipline) Hours: 8.30 to 4.30 with 30 minutes for lunch break (7.5 paid hours a day) 3 days a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, a total of 22.5 hours a week 33 weeks a year plus 1 week for INSET days. There may be some flexibility with hours. Annual holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks Reports to: Senior Science Technician and the Head of Science Salary: Band C Point 21 to point 25 (£25,262 - £28,283) based on a full time equivalent salary Actual gross salary based on a full academic year (£10,977 - £12,290) Main Purpose: The suitable candidate will be responsible for the support of academic staff teaching Science by preparation and delivery of teaching resources. Preferably the candidate will have a background involving a technical discipline and have a well organised and practical approach. Our technicians must be committed to developing their skills and working as a member of the Science Faculty team. Key Technical Responsibilities: To provide support for academic staff within the Science laboratories Check all apparatus and equipment is fully functioning and in place as required by timely requisitions To set up apparatus for class experiments and demonstrations and clear away afterwards Keep all stocks in good order and replenished making sure that the area is secured after use To put out equipment for practical examinations To prepare teaching materials as requested by academic staff To reproduce printed material or photocopy items as required To carry out elementary maintenance and ContactLaboratory Technician15 The LibertySomersetBA5 2STUnited Kingdom
