Laboratory Technician Cambridge

A fast-growing
biotechnology research company is looking for a new Laboratory Technician
to join their site in Cambridge. The purpose of the role is to work
alongside and support the laboratory team, maintaining glassware, stock
levels and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory. The
RoleThe
purpose of this role is to support the laboratory staff by maintaining
clean sterile glassware stock levels to aid in production of viral antigens
which are used to make ELISA kits for sale in the veterinary and farming
industries worldwide.You
will mainly work within the laboratory prep room, unsupervised once
trained. You will be responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of all
laboratory glassware and equipment and ensuring adequate clean sterile
equipment levels are maintained.You
will also be responsible for cleaning the laboratory floors (regularly) and
equipment when required. Periodically you may be involved in the
preparation of laboratory stock solutions. •
Glassware and laboratory instrument cleaning, drying and sterilisation.•
Operation of glassware washing equipment, drying ovens and autoclaves•
Performing and recording daily equipment checks.•
Pipette cleaning, plugging and sterilization.•
Preparation of laboratory stock solutions.•
Vacuum/sweep/ mop laboratory floors. Experience
Required•
Biological based degree, or similar •
ELISA experience and knowledge •
Experience of working in a laboratory environment would be desirable. •
General standard of education. •
Willingness to undertake on the job training. • Ability
to work alone or as part of a team. •
Ability to follow and understand verbal and written instruction. •
Ability to plan work and fit in with the demands of the organisation. •
Proven skills in working efficiently and effectively with minimum
supervision. •
Good time keeping. •
Good
attention to detail.
