We are seeking an experienced Development Editor to work on one of our business lists.This is an ideal opportunity for a current development editor to further their career and knowledge in a supportive, innovative and successful company.Key responsibilities:• Support the commissioning editor by working closely with authors, ensuring books progress efficiently and punctually.• Read content and provide detailed feedback for authors based on an understanding of target readership and desired reader outcomes. • Conduct peer reviews and market research in a timely fashion, ensuring that appropriate reviewers are recruited and that authors are supported while taking feedback on board.• Work closely with production colleagues to ensure manuscript handovers go smoothly, and that authors are kept up to date and informed throughout all stages. • Work closely with colleagues from the marketing department to exploit as many promotional opportunities as possible for each book.• With support from the commissioning editor, undertake your own new editions signing target.• Represent and support the company at conferences and events.Experience / skills required:• A minimum of 2 years development editor experience in a books, journals or courseware environment.• Proactivity, tenacity and good communication skills.• The demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects at various stages.• Attention to detail.• Demonstrable ability work collaboratively in a team and develop good relationships with authors and other stakeholders.Diversity statementKogan Page is an equal opportunities employer.
