Job Opportunity: Junior Sous Chef



Location: Sandsend, Whitby



Salary: �35,000 per annum + Share of Service Charge



Our client in the scenic coastal village of Sandsend, Whitby, is in the midst of a transformative period. This historic location is being reimagined as a luxury wellness-led sanctuary, part of a significant �100 million development that includes high-end interiors, an advanced spa and gym, luxurious lodges, and exceptional dining experiences.



We are seeking a motivated Junior Sous Chef to enhance our kitchen team. This pivotal role supports the Sous Chef and Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and plays a crucial role in maintaining and elevating our culinary standards.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Assist in the management of kitchen operations, ensuring efficient production and high-quality standards.

  • Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef in menu development and execution, including the creation of new dishes and menu planning.

  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, promoting a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are of the highest quality and presentation.

  • Manage inventory and order kitchen supplies, maintaining optimal stock levels and minimizing waste.

  • Enforce strict health, safety, and hygiene standards in the kitchen.



Requirements:




  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a high-volume, upscale restaurant or hotel kitchen.

  • Strong foundational cooking skills with a broad knowledge of various culinary techniques and cuisines.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about food and culinary arts with a drive for continuous learning and innovation.

  • Effective communicator, capable of building good relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
