About Our Client:
MIDAS is working with a highly successful and commercially focused Lancashire-based construction company who are approaching their centenary anniversary and act as a long-term construction partner to clients in the health, education, commercial and local authority sectors.
Job Description:
Based at Head Office, you'll be working closely with the Construction Director as well as the Preconstruction team and assist with the development of the planning/programming activity within the Preconstruction team to enhance its ability to secure work, establish project controls and internal reporting from the tender stage, ensure project delivery programmes are fully developed and contractually compliant, identify divergences in programme and take early to steps mitigate delay whilst keeping all stakeholders informed and liaise closely with project teams, clients and the supply chain where necessary.
The main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Work with the Preconstruction team in producing tender stage programmes with a focus on ensuring the most competitive bids are submitted
Create, maintain and review programmes of work
Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
Produce progress reports and forecasts for team members, clients and stakeholders
Break jobs down into phases of development
Use project management tools to plan timeframes
Work with the Preconstruction team to calculate the resources needed for a project
Plan contingency programmes in case timeframes change
Meet with contractors and suppliers
Demonstrate practical knowledge of construction techniques
Support the writing of bids for tender
Collaborate with the project team to find solutions and keep the project moving forward
The Successful Applicant:
Construction experience working as a Planner
Appropriate IT skills and knowledge of either ASTA Powerproject, Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project would be desirable
Understanding and appreciation of project requirements of contracts and the importance of programme management including timescales for action
Construction knowledge and the ability to research and appraise viability of alternatives
Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
