The Opportunity:
We have an exciting new career opportunity for someone to join the Marketing Team in our London City office as a
Junior Digital /Developer.
You will have responsibility of front-end digital design and web development projects. Working with the Digital solutions team to deliver both client branded recruitment websites and Hays digital projects, in this role you will be reporting to our Marketing Project Manager.

What it looks like day to day:
Coding
Use of Responsive Web Design, CSS3 and jQuery to create required design layout from PSD.
Optimisation, testing and debugging where needed.
Front-end design
Meeting minimum design standards on layout and accessibility.
Compliance with client brand guidelines where appropriate.
Creation of bespoke designs where appropriate.
Design modifications.
Development projects
Pioneer use of newer technologies – eg HTML5, CSS3, SASS.
XML, Jquery, Javascript and HTML forms.
Mobile, UI and layouts.
API build and web applications, content management processes, social media integration.
Key Accountabilities:
People & Process
Working with the Hays Marketing team consisting of digital developers, designers and the senior leadership team, to assist on digital development and client projects as required to ensure these are delivered on time and to brief. Using HTML and CSS coding to W3C web standards and accessibility guidelines; browser compatibility checks and de-bugging whilst communicating with other developers and the Marketing project manager to ensure production work is on-brand and to brief.
You will test the use of new technologies such as HTML5 and jQuery to build web applications and integrated API’s and contribute to the front-end web design, and assisting with the production of site maps and wireframes.
Operations
Ensure all project work is adequately completed within specified timeframe, with the ability to manage own workload and prioritise conflicting requirements and communicate requirements and updates with other developers and Marketing project manager.
What you need to succeed:
Advanced level (hand coding) in CSS (inc. CSS3/ SASS) and HTML 5
Ability to debug.
Good understanding of Responsive Web Design.
Good level of ability with JavaScript/jQuery and other JavaScript based frameworks.
Keen interest and basic appreciation of XML, Ajax, PHP, MySQL, Content Management Systems.
Good understanding of UX and UI requirements.
Good understanding of W3C accessibility guidelines.
Experience of using Photoshop and optimising images and a good grasp of digital design trends.
Full appreciation and understanding of corporate brand guidelines.
It would be desirable to have:
Knowledge of Webpack and CSS Grid
Understanding of CSS methodologies
