De le Cuona is an international luxury lifestyle brand with an adventurous spirit, born out of Africa. Founded over 30 years ago by Bernie de Le Cuona, the brand has grown to become a leader in natural fibres and sustainable luxury, renowned for its artisanal linens and paisleys.
We are looking for a versatile and proactive Junior Designer to join our small studio team in Windsor, reporting to the Head of Design.
The Role
As Junior Designer you will be integral to the process of developing and bringing new products to market. Working closely with the design team and CEO you will be responsible for producing market leading textiles, delivering aspirational, innovative fabric and product design solutions for de Le Cuona’s Fabric and Home Accessory ranges.
Building strong relationships with both suppliers and peers, you will strive for a high level of quality, putting sustainability at the heart of the design process to ensure your output enables the Design Department to meet and exceed the objectives of the business.
Main Responsibilities
Taking ownership in the design and development of products.
Creating original and aspirational artwork and designs.
Identifying and contributing new design concepts and colour trends.
Promoting innovation and market leading design thinking.
Collaborate closely with peers to ensure briefs are executed to the highest standard.
Demonstrate a good awareness of competitors and external industry trends.
Champion the sustainability focus within the product development life cycle.
Produce accurate documentation for fabric development.
Keeping colour library and sample library tidy and up to date.
Ensuring that projects are completed on time.
Visiting museums, galleries, trade shows and presenting findings to the rest of the team.
Conduct yourself in a manner which enables a high-performance culture, where every team member is supported and empowered to successfully contribute to the overall business objectives.
Candidate Requirements
Proven textile design experience; 2+ years in a design or product development role.
Textile design or related degree.
Technical understanding of dyeing, weaving and finishing.
Good understanding of different fibres and their properties.
Eye for colour, texture, and yarn quality with excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency in Adobe photoshop essential, competency in full Adobe suite advantageous.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
Passionate about sustainable design and material provenance.
Able to work directly with suppliers understanding their strengths and capabilities to ensure best possible execution.
Organised individual, confident in working across multiple projects simultaneously, managing personal timelines and delivery dates; ensuring clear communication with Head of Design throughout.
A creative problem-solver, naturally curious with the confidence to challenge current practices to instigate positive change.
Naturally collaborative, an excellent communicator, with good interpersonal and influencing skills.
Confident, conscientious, and engaging team member.
Enjoys working in a changing environment, able to demonstrate agility and flexibility when new projects and challenges arise.
You will have an entrepreneurial approach and can-do attitude.
