ABOUT THE ROLEJr. Design Engineers support construction teams with installation planning, drawing reviews, drafting, and coordination of electrical systems for multiple complex infrastructure projects under the direction of a Design Manager. Western Pacific Enterprises is proud of our sustainability focus, reducing our carbon footprint by operating as a completely paper-free environment and allowing employees the opportunity to be part of building something recognizable to everyone in your community.Essential FunctionsPrepare value engineering proposals - when value engineering opportunities arise, will need to research the topic and prepare a proposal for stakeholder reviewRFI's - assist in writing, submitting, tracking, and distributing responsesEnsure compliance with CSA, CEC, ESA, BCBC and all other applicable electrical standards during design processesMeetings - activity participate or lead regularly-scheduled meetings with clients, other contractors, and consultants. Keep detailed notes when participating in meetings so ensure that project team members have the same understandingCompliance reviews - review drawings from outside consultants to check to code and SoR compliance on design assist and EPC projectsShop drawing reviews - review vender drawing packages to correct errors and to suggest optimizations, examples: distribution equipment, fire alarm, light fixturesTime management - will work on more than one project at a time, potentially with conflicting priorities; need to communicate and plan to ensure that expectations are metAdministrative tasks - complete various weekly tasks to support the engineering & design process and functionality of design processes, including tracking completion and task listsRegular and predictable attendanceOther duties as assignedEssential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field locationUnderstand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards ABOUT YOUQualificationsBackground in Electrical EngineeringBSC in EngineeringAn Engineer in Training (EIT) with the EGBC1+ year of experience drafting for a construction firm or consulting firmKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesProficient with Blue beam Revu & RevitAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically ExcelProficient with using CSA, CEC, ESA, and BCBC StandardsSelf-motivated and organizedAbility to anticipate and adjust for challengesGood analytical thinking skillsCommitted to qualityAttention to detail and accuracyAdvanced knowledge of relevant legal policies and procedure and regulatory bodiesHighly motivated and dedicated to work both independently as well as with direction from others WHAT WE OFFERCompensation & BenefitsSalary $55,000 - $85,000 / yearCommensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
