Key Tasks: CLIENT CARE

  • Carry out Initial Assessments of prospective residents in accordance with National Care Standards, Legislation and Quality Procedures
  • Liaise with community/primary health care teams as necessary with regards to existing clients
  • Ensure through laid down procedures and relevant staff training that all individual needs are met as far as possible
  • Monitor the progress and wellbeing of each client and liaise with relatives
  • Ensure that staffing levels are adequate to carry out care/observation of clients
  • Promote a warm friendly homely environment
  • Promote the Quality culture of the Diocese of Dunkeld by adhering to the National Care standards
  • Ensure access to external agencies/facilities beneficial to clients
  • Ensure that clients rights are respected
  • Provide current relevant policies and procedures relating to clients' care
  • Audit all relevant paperwork relating to residents as per our Quality Assurance Policy
  • Support staff, attend clients' reviews

STAFF SUPPORT

  • Communicate effectively with all staff
  • Ensure all staff have a forum for expression by chairing regular staff meetings
  • Monitor and supervise the quality of care given by all staff and ensure any identified training needs are met
  • Carry out 6 monthly appraisals and regular supervision sessions with senior staff.
  • Carry out work place assessing/internal verification duties as required
  • Plan rotas ensuring staff levels are met and shifts are fairly rotated
  • Promote high standards of care given by being an effective team leader and leading by example, in the execution of all duties

· Ensure all policies and procedures are being adhered to

· Organise the recruitment programme when required, in line with national guidelines

· Compile relevant job descriptions and person specifications

· Prepare and advertise appropriate adverts for staff recruitment

· Facilitate interviews

· Take up references

· Manage the personnel files

· Issue appropriate contracts and associated paperwork in line with national legislation

· Assist with meetings including grievance & disciplinary matters

· Organise, facilitate, and conduct staff training

· Keep records of staff training

· Organise staff induction training

· To keep up to date with national guidelines regarding recruitment, staffing and training

· In conjunction with Home Manager carry our staff supervision, appraisals.

GENERAL

  • Ensure the Home is keeping up to date with directives from SSSC and Care Inspectorate
  • Be aware of the homes budgets and financial policies.
  • Ensure all staff are aware and observe any changes on policies and procedures
  • Ensure all requirements of Care Inspectorate are met

· Monitor achievement of quality in readiness for inspections

· Assist with the updating of policies and procedures following national guidelines

  • To exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters relating the Diocese of Dunkeld, the Home/clients
  • To prepare for and attend Annual registration and inspection
  • To provide on call support to the Home in conjunction with other senior staff and Manager cover, when required
