Accountable and responsible for delivering the Smart Metering infrastructure to support the UK’s Smart Meter implementation Programme. CTO is designing future technologies to enable the digital transformation of the energy industry through the connection of every home in the UK to a digital network. CTO aims to evolve the Smart Metering platform to incorporate new and future technologies and release its potential, helping to deliver the UK’s energy and climate change targets.The SmartDCC CTO function is at the heart of the innovation and technology evolution by building smart connectivity and contributing to the UK drive towards NetZero. To that end there are opportunities for individuals who are passionate about the use of technology to drive the green economy and contribute to a team who are focused on a low carbon future. At scale DCC will be connecting more than 100million devices to our smart network which is both secure and scalable. This supports the evolution of DCC’s smart metering IOT network and we want passionate team members to drive technology and architecture changes whilst maintaining continuity of service, scanning the technology market landscape, and building and managing a connectivity roadmap. We apply broad technical expertise to designing smart systems but also solve challenging and complex system related issues when they occur. We touch a broad range of technologies across CTO – including mobile technologies and hyperscale infrastructure providers.The RoleThe ITSM Architect Role requires an experienced Architect to develop, maintain and present the evolving end to end architecture of Smart DCCs Smart Metering Infrastructure Service Management. The ITSM Architect is a leader for DCC’s most critical projects Service Management transformation. A technologist and Architect at-heart, passionate about planning and building compelling services and products. The Architect will stay ahead of innovative technologies and demonstrate understanding through effective and rapid delivery. The choices made by the Architect make will define the fitness for purpose of DCC’s IT capabilities and ultimately the success of the business.What will you be doing?Key AccountabilitiesBeing the point of call for all architecture aspects of an IT and Operational Improvement/transformation Project.Being able to address and integrate the: Business Process, Data and Application within the aspects of a large state backed ITSM Solutions/Products.Ensure project solution architecture is documented using the templates, standard tooling and conforms to standards.Ownership of the end-to-end technical architecture, providing technical leadership to other domain architects (applications, data, infrastructure, security, service) to ensure overall cohesion.Coordinate a large team of third-party qualified architects to achieve the requested throughput of deliverables and products.Ownership of key programme technical design artefacts – Conceptual Architecture, Logical Architecture, High Level Designs, Low Level Designs and Interface SpecificationsResponsible for all Architecture/ technical content within the Programme Design AuthorityWorking as a team with the Programme’s leadership and Functional Leads to engage with senior stakeholders. Presenting and discussing the solution and design to those and taking the lead on challenges raised. What we are looking forSkills and Experiences - EssentialExperience of leading design activities for complex, multi-technology, multi-party solutions especially ITSM.Experience in multiple architectural domains, preferably applications, cloud and infrastructureAble to see and articulate the bigger picture, but also capable of delving into the detail where necessary to get the job done. Understanding of key technology risks Experienced in applying architectural tools and methods.Experience of working well in a client-facing (or similar) environment.Experience of operating and business solutions within a regulatory context.Able to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.Skills and Experiences - DesirableKnowledge of the Smart Meter Implementation Programme.Knowledge of the energy industry.Existing / established relationships with DSNEZ, Ofgem and Industry representatives.Knowledge of Smart Energy Code and DCC Licence Conditions.Mission critical, transformation and publicly visible change programmesAbout the DCCAt the DCC, we believe in making Britain more connected, so we can all lead smarter, greener lives.
