Your role:
The Engineering Product Owner – Manager is responsible for defining and managing the Engineering IT Product vision, strategy, and end-to-end delivery across the full IT Product lifecycle in partnership with relevant Business stakeholders. Focussed on maximising Business value by building useful and robust customer/Business-facing IT solutions and services. Leading the Engineering IT Product team to fulfil business needs by delivering new IT Product increments. As a key interface into Business stakeholders, shaping high-level user requirements and ensuring their timely delivery in line with wider Business priorities and agreed roadmaps. Accountable for Engineering IT Product performance, ensuring the team make meaningful and sustained improvements to overall performance (embedding a continual improvement mindset).The Engineering IT Product Ower – Manager oversees a team of 4-8 colleagues, all of which are direct reports. The Engineering IT Product Owner – Manager reports into the Senior Engineering IT Product Manager..
To succeed you will:
Partners with key Engineering business stakeholders to shape high-level Business requirements and define valuable IT Product strategies that are aligned with wider Business goals and priorities, in collaboration with the Senior Engineering IT Product Manager.
Manages the Engineering IT Product team to deliver the IT Product roadmap, delivering valuable, robust, and secure technology solutions for the Business.
Acts as a key interlock to the Business, partnering with Business stakeholders to translate their needs into high-level IT Product requirements (e.g., Epics, Features). Prioritises and manages the IT Product backlog based on Business priorities.
Responsible for security, compliance, and risk management for the Engineering IT Product.
Accountable for overall IT Product performance (e.g., delivery velocity, escalated issue resolution, IT Product roadmap realisation).
Acts as an escalation point for other IT Product teams and the Business in relation to Engineering IT Product performance.
Works with the Senior Engineering Product Manager and IT Portfolio function to align Engineering IT Product capacity with relevant IT Portfolio items.
Supports Solution Architects in shaping cross-IT Product solutions; ensures inter-IT Product dependencies required to deliver large, integrated solutions are properly accounted for within their IT Product backlog.
Develops a continuous improvement culture within the IT Product team, encouraging the team to make meaningful improvements to overall IT Product performance.
Advises Business and IT stakeholders on the latest technology developments to inform potential functional opportunities within Engineering.Your experience will include:
Comprehensive experience of managing IT delivery from requirements elicitation to code deployment, demonstrated by 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Proven track record in defining and executing value-adding IT Product strategies, realising tangible benefits for the Business.
Expertise and/or strong understanding of the Engineering functional domain (e.g., new product introduction, engineering change, build of materials and routings), preferably within a High-Tech Manufacturing context.
Strong understanding of SAP ECC – Materials Management module, including upstream/downstream impact of module changes.
Evidenced ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior Business stakeholders (e.g., Presidents, Vice Presidents), translating their high-level requirements into workable IT solutions.
Strong ability to convey complex technology ideas to non-conversant audiences.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for developing IT Product use cases and determining their associated value.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders, aligning on competing priorities and guiding Business teams on the feasibility of requests vs. Technology/IT constraints.
Good understanding of IT Product performance measures and metrics, with evidenced ability to improve overall IT Product performance (e.g., defect rates, downtime, IT Product team productivity, KPI uplift, ROI).
Knowledgeable in the practical application of Agile methodologies and frameworks (e.g., Scrum), with demonstrable experience of upskilling teams in Agile.
