Harvey Nash are proud to be partnered with a market leading Utilities company on an exclusive base to recruit an IT Operations Manager, on a permanent basis.

The IT Operations Manager will be a key senior hire, who will provide high quality and reliable information technology services to the organisations customers, employees and external third parties.

Working as the IT Operations Manager, within this fast-paced and dynamic organisation, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology (IT) estate and security. You will also take ownership for the implementation, and maintaining the IT operations ensuring that activities are conducted in accordance with organisational rules, processes and standards. You will also lead the management and implementation of changes, in accordance with organisation strategy and budget. Alongside this, the IT Operations Manager will also manage risks and ensure the effectiveness of the IT infrastructure.

The successful IT Operations Manager will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Accountability for the 24/7/365 run of the enterprise IT team which encompasses corporate infrastructure, end-user computing, product support of key technologies (including SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft etc) and the ITSM suite including changed, incident and service desk.
  • Accountability for the maintenance of the IT estate including delivery of projects and system upgrades to ensure continued support of the estate
  • Responsibility for the management of applications, support teams, licences, services, maintenance and operations contracts and the associated budgets.
  • Accountability for ITIL framework application to ensure robust change management, including configuration, commissioning, maintenance releases and small changes across the estate.
  • Responsibility for creating and maintaining service and support designs.
  • Accountability for front line service experience and managing key stakeholders delivering high standards of satisfaction and continuous service improvement culture
  • Accountability for the digital experience for all aspects of day-to-day performance, operations, and reliability of information technology services across the organisation.
  • Responsibility for matrix ways of working, to support Service Account Managers, who own the relationship with Product Owners across the organisation.
  • Ownership of the relationships with framework partners, ensuring quality service, performance and outcomes are delivered to commercial boundaries.
  • Responsibility for the planning, testing and sufficiency of business continuity and disaster recovery activities for technology services.
  • Accountability for ensuring all audit and accreditation activities both internal and external are maintained
  • Responsibility for managing key stakeholders in both the UU customer base and wider areas within the Technology Operations and Services team articulating key IT headlines
  • Accountability for Health, Safety and Wellbeing of the operational team

To be successful in this IT Operations Manager position; the ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience in operating and managing enterprise technology services, able to lead technical focussed roles to achieve operational performance, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, legal standards and best practice.
  • Experience of information security processes
  • Experience in leadership roles.
  • Exceptional customer service expertise, able to deal with a demanding customer facing operation and ensure customers remain at the heart of the service provision.
  • Experience of a heavily regulated industry and CNI accountabilities
  • Strong operational management experience, able to deliver service improvements concurrently with cost savings.
  • Extensive experience of ITIL framework and application, including incident management.
  • Strong technical understanding of technology disciplines and asset management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relationships and influence key leaders at senior manager level.
  • Experience of operational management of multisite teams and delivering results through use of third party organisations
