Our prestigious client is a specialist and global asset manager managing a number of investment vehicles (including UCITS funds) investing in insurance-linked securities (“ILS”). Our client is authorised by the FCA as an AIFM and with the SEC as an Investment Adviser. They have some of the best talent in investment origination, structured finance and asset management of any firm and many of their key staff were previous top performers from the world’s leading tier 1 investment banks, insurers and hedge funds.
The Role
The firm is seeking experienced, results driven and ambitious asset raisers to broaden and improve their penetration of the ILS investor market globally. The ideal candidate will be based in their London office and with flexible working arrangements. The ideal candidate will have a proven and successful track record of raising money in ILS or other alternative asset classes. An insurance investment background or prior ILS experience is preferable but not a strict requirement. The successful candidate is responsible for establishing and enhancing relationships with global and regional consultants in the global asset management market and increase the visibility of our prestigious across the consultant community, and impact the growth of consultant-generated business within the global Sales team.
Key Responsibilities
Devising and implementing a capital raising strategy, including identifying and engaging with potential new investors and investor pools
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with investors including providing regular updates on the firm’s investment activities and performance, and addressing queries and concerns;
Ability to develop a robust investor relations strategy and framework, including asset retention
Sales, marketing, client service and consultant relations in a global landscape
Working within an existing Investor Relations team and build relationships with new investors/advisors/consultants/markets
Communicate firm and fund strategy externally
Work with new and existing clients to understand their broader portfolio requirements and effectively communicate the benefits and role of ILS within a broader portfolio
The role will also involve supporting the global sales team. In addition to having overall responsibility for domestic capital raising, the candidate will be expected to stay abreast of market developments and trends as it relates to investor requirements and ensure our client’s offerings continue to be fit for purpose. There is a strong preference for the role to be London based, however other locations will be considered. The role will require some level of domestic travel and occasional international travel may be required to support offshore fundraising efforts.
The ideal candidate will:
Work closely with members of the investment teams to proactively position our client and its key investment strategies to researchers and field consultants with the goal of developing product ratings and generating search activity
Raise awareness and understanding of our client to the regional investment consultant community; being able to be recognized as a firm spokesperson
Work closely with sales, investments, client service, and investor relationship teams
Participate in the RFP and consultant data processes to help steer the continued quality and development of firm responses to consultant inquiries
Organize and host consultant meetings and onsite due diligence sessions
Candidate Background
10 – 20 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with a proven track record of successful fundraising, business development and sales of ILS products. Investment Banking, Asset Management, Capital markets, Investment Consulting, Structured Finance or Hedge Fund experience is also desirable. Strong personal network of investor contacts. ‘Rainmaker’ attitude and mentality - extremely results driven, self-starter and passionate about asset raising. Excellent written and verbal communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to conduct meetings and communicate in a manner that promotes transparency, builds trust, and strengthens relationships. A “client first” attitude with superior interpersonal and organizational skills. Internally motivated and able to motivate and lead a team. ILS knowledge a plus but not a mandatory requirement. Commercially minded and good business sense.
