Position: Crime Investigator (PIP 1) - OPERATION BRAMBER
Division / Department: Specialist Crime Command, Operation Bramber
Status: Full Time or Happy to Talk Flexible Working
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract
The Role & Key Responsibilities: We have an exciting opportunity to join Sussex Police as a Crime Investigator working on a 12-month, fixed term contract. Successful applicants will support Operation Bramber, an investigation into potential offences of Manslaughter by Gross Negligence and Corporate Manslaughter by Gross Negligence at a large medical establishment in Sussex.
Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the investigation of Rape cases.
  • Thoroughly investigating allegations to bring potential offenders to justice.
  • Assisting in pursuing lines of enquiry to prove/disprove allegations and keep victims safe.
  • Collaborating with detectives and criminal investigators.


Location: Crime Investigators will be based at Centenary House, Worthing, initially, but flexibility is required.
Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to handle challenging situations involving vulnerable adults.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and complete tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to integrity and fairness.
  • Emotional resilience and passion for public service.
  • Proficient IT skills.


Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of criminal justice procedures.
  • Experience in criminal investigations.
  • Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP1) accreditation.
