Become a Internal Communications Business Partner
We are looking for an experienced Internal Communications Business Partner to support our colleague communications through excellent copy writing, creative campaigns, and exceptional planning skills.
Reporting to our Internal Communications and Engagement Manager, your role will be pivotal to developing and delivering our internal communications and engagement strategy and projects for around 4,000 colleagues! You’ll be working alongside our Internal Communications Coordinator and supporting their development. We have an ambitious People plan at The Works and we need a special someone who can support the delivery of our plans through inspiring content and campaigns – bringing our purpose, values, and brand to life. With some awesome projects on the horizon including employer brand, reward and recognition, wellbeing and diversity and inclusion strategies, it’s a really exciting time to join the team and make a difference to our internal communications and engagement strategy. You’ll be a natural storyteller, with the ability to project manage multiple campaigns at a time and get things done in this fast-paced role.

Your Mission Support the Internal Communications and Engagement Manager to deliver our internal communications and engagement strategy and calendar of campaigns and events.Build relationships and offer tactical communications advice and support to stakeholders guiding and coaching colleagues to achieve their communications goals.Create and deliver eye-catching communications campaigns and materials to promote various projects, events and activities to colleagues, ensuring use of the right message, at the right time on the right channel.Create dynamic content suitable for our internal communication channels and platforms, including email, MyWorks, internal Facebook group, noticeboards, digital signage, and newsletters.Co-ordinate the implementation of new channels and reviewing current communication channels including new developments to the MyWorks platform.Manage engagement events and activities (virtual, face-to-face, meetings, workshops, focus groups, roadshows, socials, fundraising etc.) considering those colleagues hybrid working, in-store, in our Distribution Centre and Support Centre. Use your design and copywriting skills to bring our fun tone of voice and brand to life for our Crafty, Caring and Can-Do colleagues.Ability to edit existing copy submitted for review and ensure it’s the right tone and style. Giving effective feedback on written copy and writing styles.Interview and talk with colleagues from across the business to find and portray colleague success stories in line with our strategy.Act as a brand guardian and expert, ensuring all our materials are in line with our brand guidelines and advise others.Work with stakeholders and colleagues across the business to collate content ensuring clarity, consistency, tone of voice and quality of content across every touchpoint.Communicate the great work we’re doing in our ‘Doing Business Better’ campaign including our environment, diversity and inclusion, wellbeing and giving something back pillars.Champion and support the organisation, communication and action plans for our annual Make a Difference engagement survey and other employee engagement initiatives.Co-ordinate the annual communications survey, reviewing and learning from findings to support the communications strategy. Manage and use our Communications Dashboard to evaluate effectiveness of communications and our channels making recommendations for future campaigns.Support the development of our Internal Communications co-ordinator to enhance their skills, learn and grow in their role. Work effectively with external suppliers where necessary to support our communications plans. Skills that will set you apart Previous internal communications and engagement experience, ideally across multi-sites, and a demonstrable track record of positive impact.Understanding of communication strategy, content planning, calendars and project planning.Understanding and ability to communicate/articulate our business purpose, strategy, values and employer brand through communications.Journalistic skills including interviewing, writing, copy editing, proof reading with ability to adapt tone of voice dependent on audience.Ability to turn complex issues into simple plain English and to match language to readership, avoiding jargon.First class copywriting skills with ability to adapt tone of voice dependent on audience, with flawless grammar, spelling and punctuation.You’ll have cracking design skills to help create graphics, internal comms materials, video and be a brand guardian.Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Video software and managing communications platforms.
