Our offices are in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, Salford Quays, Manchester, Gibraltar and Guernsey, we work flexibly - we love it – homebased, office based, a bit of both – you choose! Job responsibilities:Contributing to the overall strategic direction of the function and participating in the annual planning process.Planning individual audits, identifying risks and controls and defining audit objectives.Leading audit fieldwork, evaluating the effectiveness of controls, drafting audit findings, writing up conclusions, and preparing audit reports.Ascertaining compliance with established policies and procedures, and identifying actual and potential weaknesses in controls, cost savings and efficiencies.Challenging risk management approaches with Management and recommending improvements.Adopting innovative and efficient audit techniques, such as use of data analytics, embedded/real-time assurance, auditing risk culture and principles of agile audit methodology.Managing positive senior stakeholder engagement throughout the audit timeline to encourage auditees to collaborate fully to achieve the purpose of the audit.Proactively evaluating risks and internal controls against changing trends and market/economic conditions.Sharing with the results of the audit with auditees and agreeing appropriate actions and timelines to remedy any audit findings.Tracking agreed audit actions through to completion.Supporting the preparation of papers for audit and risk committees.Supporting continuous improvement in the internal audit service and processes.Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times.Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times, including compliance with the Senior Managers Certification Regime (SMCR) Conduct Rules.Job-specific competenciesExperience & knowledgeA member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or holding a CCAB qualification (e.g. ICAEW)Experience within an Internal Audit function or delivering an internal audit plan comprising a broad array of complex audit areas.Direct experience in financial services and preferably the Solvency processes for insuranceExperienced in building relationships with senior management.Influencing and networking with senior people to achieve consensus and collaboration.Evidence of proven career track record and consistent record of achievement.Educated to degree levelSkills & QualificationsGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenGood time management and organisation skillsSpecialist technical knowledge of risk management techniques.Specialist technical knowledge of Internal Audit Best practiceAptitude to strategic thinking and operational implementationPersonal impact in business and technical discussions at all levels.Resilient to challenge from senior levels whilst building and maintaining relationships.Specialist, current and in depth technical knowledge of at least one specific area relevant to the business.Broad commercial and strategic awareness.Sound, high level planning skills.Extremely strong negotiation and conflict management.Appreciates and is sensitive to cultural diversity.IT literate.BehavioursDevelops and utilises a network of senior contacts, providing advice on risk across the organisation.Effective at influencing own manager, colleagues and business executives.Able to deal with any business concerns or relationship issues.Regularly strives to exceed objectives.Demonstrates persistence, resilience and tolerance for stress in the face of obstacles.Demonstrates regular and effective use of subject matter knowledge, both as a user and as a provider.Seeks to challenge and improve current processes and approaches.Performs a number of assignments at one time, managing own time and other resources effectively and efficiently.Demonstrates the courage to take decisions up to the maximum level of their authority, balancing short and long term needs.Logical and systematic approach to analysis of symptoms and causes, identifying key issues, underlying trends and interrelationships.Able to understand and resolve technically complex issues within areas under review.Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the key factors influencing the business, internally and externally.Has a good understanding of the UK business drivers and strategy.Has the capacity to think across a range of business functions and systems.Self-motivated and enthusiasticAn organised and proactive approachAbility to work on own initiative and as part of a teamA flexible approach and positive attitudeStrives to drive business improvements to contribute to the success of the business If your ready to take your career to the next level and contribute to building an industry-leading internal audit function, hit the button and apply now!
